Our Story
In 1851, J. Parker Whitney hiked through this peaceful valley toward the rough and tumble gold fields of Auburn. Stopping to rest under the cool umbrella of a spacious oak, the young man promised he would return to settle the land and raise his family. He kept his promise, and by 1870 he and his brothers owned and operarted the 22,000 acre Whitney Ranch. Tours of the ranch included a scenic carriage ride over twelve bridges and along a tree lined road called Eight Mile Drive. The Whitney Ranch has now evolved into a golfing experience unparalleled in Northern California.
Catta Verdera Country Club is nestled among the rolling hills and woodlands of Lincoln, California and offers one of the best golf memberships in the Sacramento Valley. To retain the area’s natural beauty, the course has been “coaxed” from a stunning 335 acre valley, complete with gentle streams, natural oaks, buckeyes, Ponderosa pines and granite outcroppings.By enhancing the natural lay of the land, Catta Verdera is as visually captivating as it is challenging.
